The A and B Teams traveled to East Lansing this past weekend to Michigan State University's Hardwood Classic. Both teams went 3-0 in pool play on Saturday but lost in tough crossover matches that night. We came out strong on Sunday, with both teams advancing to the Gold Bracket Semifinals. The B Team fell to Indiana B in Division II (23-25, 16-25) and many of our new members showed leadership and performed beyond expectations. The A Team lost to a strong Illinois A, the Division I tournament champions, in a heart breaker (22-25, 28-26, 14-16). Each team finished T-3rd.
The 2015 Virginia Tech Fall Invitational was a huge success! Many teams came to compete, but our A Team defended their title and won it all, locking down that important $1,000 prize. It's time for NCVF Nationals in Reno, Nevada. Both teams continued their strong play on the first day, winning their pools and giving themselves a shot to make the gold bracket. Unfortunately, the B-team fell to two tough teams in Oshkosh B and Cal Poly B in their power pool and lost in the first round of the silver bracket to Michigan State B. The A-team continued to play well, winning their power pool on Friday with victories against Arizona and Rutgers to give them a spot in the gold bracket. The team won in the first round of gold but fell to Cal Poly A in an epic 3 set match, giving them a tied 5th finish for the tournament. It was an amazing week and both teams would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the teams throughout the year! The A and B-team traveled to the University of Maryland for East Coast Championships. Both teams came out strong in pool play, winning all of their matches earning themselves a first round bye in bracket play. The A-team lost a tightly contested match in 3 to Rutgers in the semi-finals while the B-team made it to the championship game ultimately losing to Penn State B in 2 sets. Both teams are looking to make a deep run at NCVF Nationals this week!
Both teams traveled to Liberty University to compete in the EIVA South Division Championships. Each team played very well, not dropping a set the whole day. The A-Team became back to back EIVA South Division I Champions and the B-Team became back to back to back EIVA South Division III Champions. Both teams will travel to EIVA East Coast Championships at Maryland this upcoming weekend and then the season will conclude at the NCVF National Tournament in Reno, Nevada.
Both teams traveled to partake in JMU's Cash Spring Tournament. Both teams made it to the gold bracket, with the B-Team winning a one game tiebreaker against ODU to get the final spot. Unfortunately, both teams lost in the 1st round of gold. The A-team and B-team will enjoy spring break before getting ready to travel to Liberty for Divisional Championships.
The A-team traveled to Indiana for the annual Hoosier-Illini Classic. The team struggled early on but managed to finish 2nd in their pool and win a challenge match against Grand Valley State to reach the gold bracket. They played hard in the first round of the gold bracket but unfortunately came up a little short and lost to Purdue A. Both the A-Team and B-Team will travel to JMU next weekend.
Both the A-Team and B-Team traveled to compete in the EIVA South Play Date. The A-team traveled to Duke while the B-team traveled to VMI. Both teams had strong showings and won their respective play dates, earning spots for East Coast Championships along the way.

Both teams attended the PSU winter classic. The B-team won the silver bracket championship while the A-team fell in the quarterfinals in the gold bracket. This concluded the Fall semester and both teams have a long break before picking it back up next semester. The club would like to thank everyone who came out to support us and looks forward to another good semester. Tryout dates will be posted later.
Virginia Tech's A team made the trip to Michigan State to defend their Championship from last year. The A-team went on to win the tournament for a second year in a row and didn't drop a set throughout the whole tournament!
